About this listen

War is only the beginning...

From number one New York Times best-selling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book four in her Blood and Ash series.

From the desperation of golden crowns...

Casteel Da’Neer knows all too well that very few are as cunning or vicious as the Blood Queen, but no one, not even him, could’ve prepared for the staggering revelations. The magnitude of what the Blood Queen has done is almost unthinkable.

And born of mortal flesh...

Nothing will stop Poppy from freeing her King and destroying everything the Blood Crown stands for. With the strength of the Primal of Life’s guards behind her, and the support of the wolven, Poppy must convince the Atlantian generals to make war her way—because there can be no retreat this time. Not if she has any hope of building a future where both kingdoms can reside in peace.

A great primal power rises...

Together, Poppy and Casteel must embrace traditions old and new to safeguard those they hold dear—to protect those who cannot defend themselves. But war is only the beginning. Ancient primal powers have already stirred, revealing the horror of what began eons ago. To end what the Blood Queen has begun, Poppy might have to become what she has been prophesied to be—what she fears the most.

As the Harbinger of Death and Destruction.

The reviews I have seen so far are not fond of the fact that another narrator was added. The switch in narration is strange in the beginning, but given how this book is WRITTEN (it switches from one point of view - how the first three books were written - to two povs) it really makes sense. Tim Campbell does quite a good job with it (and Stina Nielsen continues to be great). It would have been difficult to appreciate the full scope of what switching the point of view accomplishes in a written work in the spoken version without adding Tim, and given the purposeful change in style I wouldn’t have want to lose that as a listener.

Fascinating book. Can’t wait to see what happens in the next one.

Narration switch makes sense, and I like it

I wish all of the fluff on the first 80% had been more interesting, but the last 20% was fabulous

Pretty good

Excellent plot. Can’t wait for the Next book. Listened to the entire book in 3 days Nonstop.

I little tired of the amount of Sex in the series. However the plot Compensates for that. I wish the author would stop using sex scenes as Fillers . Less sex and more action. Still a GREAT PLOT !!!

Excellent plot and story

I was worried when I saw a male narrator because I’m so used to Stina’s voice covering the male parts in this series but I was pleasantly surprised. I really loved Tim’s voice for Casteel. The whole performance and the story were A+ absolutely worth a credit

Worth the credit!

I loved this book! I thought it was great to have Poppy stand on her own two feet, without Cas. I think that was necessary to really help her come into her own as Queen. I thought it helped Poppy stay true to herself too. It’s wild to think about how far Poppy’s grown over the course of the series, but even more so in this book.

Also, I wasn’t bothered by the Kieran relationship. JLA foreshadowed that relationship beautifully, so I was ready for it. The beauty of fantasy is the ability to fantasize about concepts, life experiences and love we don’t necessarily get to experience or explore in real life. I thought it was actually pretty tasteful and appropriate for the story and the characters.

Thanks for another excellent book! Oh and I loved the addition of a male reader for Cas. It brought the different characters to life even more.

I love the narration addition for Cas! I see that there were many complaints, but I’m not sure why. I can’t wait for the next book!

Woah!

Loved loved loved this book!! Definitely read the prequel before if you want a full understanding of some of the characters that come into play later on. Amazing delivery and kept me guessing the whole time!

Wow!

I thought it was good. But, this book has the problem most books with magic have, in that no wound is to great. There is no intense battle scenes because they can heal anything and bring everyone back from the dead. In my opinion, that takes away from the story. When a heartbreaking moment happens and brings depth to the story, and say, "Never mind, they are alive again." My other gripe is with the narrator. Although I like this narrator, she insisted on saying Eeeeether instead of just aether. It was pretty annoying. other than that though, it was a good book.

Good book. A few problems though

So technically, it’s not over but for me it is. This last book was very much like TWD and/or GOT for me-so good but so ready for it to be over. So sick of the same bad guys, the same bad guy tricks, the endless plot twists 😬. Also really like that the main characters finally got “joined.”

Finally!
